Centerline is a proud member of the United States Taekwon-Do Federation which is the U.S. governing body for the original Intenational Taekwon-Do Federation which has been based in Austria for over 40 years. Under the guidance of Grand Master Sereff, President of the USTF Centerline teaches true Taekwon-Do as created by General Choi Hong Hi of the South Korean Army. Taekwon-Do is actually one of the newest Martial Arts. In less than fifty years Taekwon-Do grew to be the most popular Martial Art in the world. This was no small feat considering the traditions of great Martial Arts such as Kung-Fu and Karate, which have been around for hundreds of years. The success of Taekwon-Do is the result of General Choi's years of research and the implementation of modern physics and biology into a very well balanced Martial Art designed for the Military soldier. General Choi achieved 2nd Degree Black Belt in Karate while attending the Chuo University, a law school in Japan. When he was forced to serve in the Japanese army, during the later part of WWII, he taught Karate to the Korean and Japanese soldiers. It was during this time that he decided to create a superior Martial Art, a"Korean Martial Art" that would give his country something to be proud of. General Choi played a very significant role in the Independence movement of his country. "Taekwon-Do is the mental training and techniques of unarmed combat for self-defense as well as health. It involves the skilled application of punches, kicks, blocks and dodges with the bare hands and feet for the rapid destruction of a moving opponent or opponents."
-General Choi Hong Hi The Five Parts Of The Physical Composition Of Taekwon-Do:

The Science And The Theory of Power as well as Moral Culture are also essential parts of Taekwon-Do training.

Here are a few informative articles out of General Chois' 15 set Taekwon-Do Encyclopedia:

The life of a human being, perhaps 100 years, can be considered as a day when compared with eternity. Therefore, we mortals are no more than simple travelers who pass by the eternal years of an eon in a day.
